Pottery Workshops
POTTERY CLASSES are suitable for persons of all abilities at Benbulben Pottery in Rathcormac Craft Village situated on the Wild Atlantic Way in Sligo. Evening and daytime pottery classes, taster classes and Saturday classes.
HAND BUILDING: Pinch pots, Coil pots and Slab building covered with students getting to make several examples of each.
SCULPTURAL WORK: Ceramics figurative heads are made in the class and always proves to be very popular.
THROWING ON THE WHEEL: Wheel throwing on the potter’s wheel aimed at the level of each student. Advanced throwing provided for experienced students.
NEXT POTTERY CLASSES: 5 Week evening POTTERY CLASS. Tuesday 1st of September 7-9pm. Email benbulbenpottery@yahoo.ie or message 086 2155234 to book a place.
Work is bisque fired and students paint their pieces for the glaze firing.
One off classes are also available for families, corporate groups, special needs groups and others.
Classes are tailored to the abilities and requirements of each class. Classes are relaxed and enjoyable letting people explore their creativity through the clay.
Dave has qualifications in Ceramics and Social Care and has worked in both fields for a long time.

Irish Hand made stoneware functional Pottery produced on site in the studio by Dave McLoughlin at Benbulben Pottery in Rathcormac Craft Village, County Sligo. Artisan Pottery fired using a range of glazes suitable for use around the home.
Irish Pit Fired Pottery
Pit-fired pots fired in pit in the garden with Seaweed from local beaches in Sligo, fruit skins and oxides, fire to give organic range of effects and colours. Each piece is totally unique and reflects the magic of the natural firing process.
Dave McLoughlin Ceramics
A wide range of Ceramic Pieces made using slips, stains, and glazes to give a range of finishes and colours. The work is constantly changing and evolving to reflect environmental, social and political issues in the world today.

About Me
I began my pottery career in 1987 studying Ceramics in Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design. Following this I combined my love for Ceramics and travel working in 10 Potteries in Ireland, Canada and Scotland, learning and honing my skills as a Potter and Ceramic Artist. In 1996 I started my own studio at Benbulben Pottery in Rathcormac, County Sligo on the Wild Atlantic Way where I have continued to work full time until 2008 and combining a career in Social Care until 2024. I have returned full time to the Pottery combining very popular classes with my passion for making new work.
